You have some awesome photos there! I need to visit Europe someday (mainland Europe, not just the high-north in Scandinavia...).
Well, I don't really like geology much, actually - I'm still a biologist at heart! Actually, I'm moving back to Svalbard this summer, and I am SO EXCITED! When will you be there? Maybe we can meet up! As for bars in Longyearbyen...Huset is great, Kroa is also great...those are my favorites. If you're working with UNIS at all, you'll probably learn about Friday gathering too.

Ah! NyAlesund is wonderful, I was there last...hm, February. A year ago! It was very dark at that time... Well, I will not be in Longyearbyen either, actually - I am going to Hornsund Fjord, 100km in the other direction (southern Svalbard). I will be passing through Longyearbyen in late-June and early August - so MAYBE we will overlap and meet?
